About this event

Courtney Thompson, an assistant professor in Mississippi State's Department of History, will present on her research on the Dr. A.B. Holder Collection, which is held by the Manuscripts Division of Special Collections at MSU Libraries. Holder was born in Pickens and practiced medicine in Mississippi, on the Crow Reservation in Montana, and in Memphis where he specialized in appendicitis and was felled by the disease he was studying. Though Holder was a country doctor, his work and research has had a long-lasting impact on the practice of medicine. The lecture is free to all.
