About this event

Mississippi State's Office of Research and Economic Development is sponsoring a formal presentation and two breakout sessions by Jason Organ, an assistant professor of anatomy and cell biology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Co-editor and writer for the Public Library of Science (PLOS) Communication Blog, Organ will give an 8:30 a.m. general session about the importance of storytelling and empathy in science communication, and his experiences training over 500 scientists in more effective means of communication.

In addition, Organ will facilitate hands-on breakout sessions at 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to teach the importance of connecting with an audience and distilling a message to make communication of science meaningful and effective to those who are not only inside, but also outside the discipline.
