Visiting Writer Ahmed Badr Public Talk

Mississippi State's Department of Art and the Department of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures are welcoming writer, social entrepreneur, poet and former Iraqi refugee Ahmed Badr for a public talk on the importance of empowering youth through art and storytelling. Admission is free.

Together with Syrian artist and architect Mohamad Hafez, Badr co-founded UNPACKED: Refugee Baggage, a first-of-its-kind multi-media installation on display through Nov. 1 at Mississippi State’s Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery.

Available for viewing 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, the exhibition is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Humanities Council, National Endowment for the Humanities, Mississippi Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, and The Criss Trust.
