About this event

Donald L. Miller, a New York Times bestselling author and Pennsylvania-based historian, is giving a presentation and holding a book signing at Mississippi State’s Mitchell Memorial Library.

The event, sponsored by MSU Libraries and the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library, is free and open to the public.

Published by Simon & Schuster, Miller’s newest book "Vicksburg: Grant’s Campaign That Broke the Confederacy" tells the story of the longest military campaign of the Civil War, which culminated in Grant and his Union forces capturing the last Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River. The victory elevated Grant’s reputation and helped propel him to leadership of the Union Army. A review of “Vicksburg” in the Civil War Courier said that Miller “has crafted an insightful and striking look at the actions of General Grant at a turning point not only of the Civil War but also of American history.”
