About this event
Do you have an idea you always wanted to see come to life? Working on a side hustle and need a boost to bring it to retail in a downtown shop? Interested in developing entrepreneurship with your class projects?
The MSU Idea Shop and the Robert Hearin Foundation are offering Faculty and Student Maker/Entrepreneur Fellowships for spring 2021!
Faculty (up to $5,000) and student (up to $750) fellowships will be available for the spring semester for maker or entrepreneurial projects using the MSU Idea Shop maker space in downtown Starkville. Projects could include any technology, creative, product development/design, or artistic ideas.
Interested applicants should prepare and email a project proposal and budget (no more than one page combined) to Dr. Charles Freeman (cf617@msstate.edu).
The project proposal (200-word limit) needs to answer the following questions.
- How do you plan to incorporate the MSU Idea Shop resources into your project?
- Find out more about all the MSU Idea Shop has to offer here: https://ecenter.msstate.edu/programs/the-idea-shop [Terms and Conditions: All MSU Idea Shop products are carried and sold on consignment. Consignment is an arrangement in which a seller (or "consignor") sends goods to a buyer (or "consignee") without getting payment for the goods then itself.]
- How is this project connected to entrepreneurship or economic development?
- (For Faculty) Is this project part of a class? If so, how many students will need project support?
The number of available fellowships is limited, so those interested are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline of Jan. 15.
Fellowship recipients will be notified by Jan. 20 and will have an orientation scheduled the following week.
