Mississippi weather can change quickly—are you prepared? Weathering the Storm: Severe Weather Preparedness is a practical training course designed to help Mississippi State University students, faculty and staff understand how to prepare for, respond to and recover from severe weather events that may impact campus.
This course covers:
- Types of severe weather common to Mississippi (tornadoes, lightning, flooding, etc.)
- Understanding weather alerts and warning systems
- MSU’s Maroon Alert system and how to respond to notifications
- Shelter-in-place procedures and safe locations on campus
- Building an emergency kit for your dorm, office or vehicle
- What to do before, during and after a storm
Participants will leave with actionable steps to stay safe during severe weather and the confidence to respond calmly and effectively.
