The statue of MSU alumnus and former U.S. House Rep. G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery looks over the Drill Field on a sunny winter day. Author of the Montgomery G.I. Bill, MSU's G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America's Veterans is named in his honor. Dedicated in 2005, the bronze statue stands on a marble base of a brick pedestal on the north front lawn of Allen Hall.
