Dr. Elizabeth Swanson, MSU associate professor of animal surgery, right, and Sophia Mauldin, a third-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student, attend to Buddy, a labrador retriever mix, that has been recovering at the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine since being set on fire in April in Tate County. Buddy is reported to be healing nicely, after undergoing codfish skin grafts, and will go through heartworm treatment and reconstruction procedures to his eyelids that will keep him in Swanson and CVM’s care until the end of the year.
