In an uncertain world, it’s good to know that some things never change - like Mississippi State’s commitment to keeping our students firmly on their academic paths.
With travel restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 health crisis, we’re moving our summer courses all online and offering them at reduced prices to ensure access to every new and current student. Students will be able to take as much as an entire semester over three summer sessions running from May 6 to Aug. 4. There will also be a 10-week term from June 1-Aug. 4.
We realize many students and families are facing financial hardships as a result of the pandemic, and we want to help. In addition to lowering tuition, we are expanding course offerings to provide even greater value for students who are interested in advancing their education at MSU this summer.
Accelerate your degree, complete a minor, or explore a new area of interest while benefitting from reduced tuition and an expanded curriculum led by some of the nation’s most outstanding faculty.
It’s part of Mississippi State’s unchanging commitment. Not only will we keep you on your path, we’ll help you get ahead.

Our Students’ Perspectives
"Completing my degree with the help of online summer classes was extremely beneficial for me! Having the ease of submitting things on my own time was wonderful. All of my professors worked so hard to establish an easy working environment and were incredibly quick to respond whenever I had questions. I loved having the chance to complete online summer classes from Mississippi State, and I highly encourage everyone to consider it!" ~ Mae Barnes, Senior, Interdisciplinary Studies
"As a double-major, the only reason I am able to graduate in five years is because I took summer classes at Mississippi State. They really helped me move forward, and I'm excited to take more classes online this summer as part of the MBA program at MSU. I've found that being able to go at my own pace and focus on one subject at a time has been a helpful part of online classes. Plus, my teachers have us on discussion boards, which has encouraged us to think critically and participate even more than we would have inside of class." ~ David Cuevas, Senior, Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry
"I chose to take online summer classes in order to graduate sooner, due to changing my major. I was skeptical at first, wondering if it would be more difficult or put me at a disadvantage by doing so. Fortunately, my professors were always willing to help and were available to answer my questions inside and outside of class, and, because of that, my GPA improved. I’m so thankful to MSU and the College of Architecture, Art and Design for the option to continue my education in a way that saved me so much time and money!" ~ Emily Gafford, Senior, Interior Design
“I’ve taken online courses from Mississippi State every single summer since my freshman year. It gave me the opportunity to take classes that I was concerned about taking during the regular school year. I was able to focus more time and attention on those summer courses, which was very beneficial and helped me get ahead.” ~ Sydney Wicks, Senior, Psychology
“Being a double-major, it's hard to stay on track with all the classes I have to take. Falling behind was becoming a real worry, but then I discovered online summer courses. They offer a wide variety of classes with professors ready to help whenever you need them. One of the best advantages of online courses is that you go at your own pace, leaving you plenty of time if you have a job. Mississippi State’s online courses have allowed me to stay on track, while still letting me enjoy the summer break.” ~ Rosie Ferguson, Senior, Fine Arts and Psychology
