Michael J. Devine, a longtime member of the Ulysses S. Grant Association Board of Directors and former director of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library, will be the keynote speaker at the 15th annual John F. and Jeanne A. Marszalek Speaker Series at Mississippi State's Mitchell Memorial Library. His presentation is titled “Presidential Libraries: An Inside Look.” The lecture series is sponsored by Mississippi State University Libraries in honor of the Marszaleks. Also presenting during Wednesday’s program is Stephen Powell, 2017 Marszalek Lecture Series Graduate Student Award winner. The graduate student in MSU’s Department of History specializes in 19th century U.S. history, the Civil War, Reconstruction and military history. A graduate of Davidson College, Powell spent a year working as an intern in MSU’s Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library. The topic for his lecture is “The Simple Art of War: A Reinterpretation of Ulysses S. Grant’s Civil War Strategy.” Click the "Link" below for more information.
