STARKVILLE, Miss.--A Mississippi State program to be held Wednesday [Feb. 18] will discuss the question, "Does Science Make Faith Obsolete?"

To be held at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall's Bettersworth Auditorium, the event is free and open to all. The MSU Christian Faculty-Staff Forum is sponsoring the event, which is among many Veritas Forums being held at universities around the U.S. in February.

Speakers include James Tour, molecular chemist from Rice University (www.jmtour.com) and Nick Fitzkee, MSU assistant professor of chemistry. The speakers will present their thoughts on the topic, engage in conversation and entertain questions from the audience.

The Veritas Forum began at Harvard University in 1992 to address some of life's most important questions, such as "What does it mean to be human?" "Why is there evil and suffering?" and "Is there any meaning in death?"

The Latin word "veritas," a word included in many higher education institutional mottos, signifies the pursuit of truth. The Veritas Forum seeks to explore, discuss, engage, inspire, question, and enlarge understanding of life.
