STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University Presidential Scholars and friends recently visited the set of ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where they met native Mississippian Robin Roberts, center, and GMA co-anchors Dan Harris and Lara Spencer (top photo).

Offered through the university’s Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College, the MSU Presidential Scholars program annually provides students who are among the nation’s best with the opportunity to visit a global city.

During this year’s visit to the Big Apple, the scholars presented Roberts with a women’s basketball jersey and a “Ring Responsibly” cowbell signed by MSU President Mark E. Keenum. The student group also enjoyed a special tour of the United Nations headquarters.

As recipients of MSU’s most prestigious undergraduate scholarships, Presidential Scholars are expected to maintain an overall 3.4 GPA while in their respective academic majors. Among other enhanced learning opportunities, the students enjoy interactions with members of the land-grant institution’s extensive research faculty.

MSU is Mississippi’s leading university, available online at www.msstate.edu.
