STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Panhellenic Council and campus Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic are co-sponsoring Bully’s Autism Spectrum Glow Run.

Open to all, the 3K event Monday [April 3] begins at 7 p.m. on Robert L. Jones Circle in the university’s Sorority Row area. The $20 registration fee will include a T-shirt to mark participation.

MSU students not yet signed up should do so promptly via OrgSync; others, at www.racesonline.com/events/bullys-autism-spectrum-glow-run. Runners are encouraged to wear blue for autism awareness.

Fellows of the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Leadership Program are providing race assistance.

All proceeds from the fundraising activity will go directly to the campus clinic located at 299-1 Morrill Road.

“As April is Autism Awareness Month, we’re really thankful for the efforts of Panhellenic and the support of the Montgomery student leaders in bringing this event together,” said center director Dan Gadke, assistant professor in MSU’s Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations.

The Panhellenic Council represents eight national social sorority chapters at MSU, including Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi and Zeta Tau Alpha. Senior Sarah K. Parkey of Alpharetta, Georgia, the council’s community service director, said the ADDC was adopted last year as the organization’s primary philanthropy.

Part of the Division of Student Affairs’ student leadership office, the Montgomery Fellows group includes, among others, senior Katie L. McLemore of Starkville. She said members are volunteering because they recognize “the importance of giving back to organizations that offer services not only to students at MSU, but also to the community of Starkville.”
