STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State University is recognizing the contributions of graduate students to the university community this week [April 3-7] with Graduate Student Appreciation Week.

Sponsored by MSU’s Graduate School and Graduate Student Association, the week features recognition and events for the university’s graduate students.

“Every day, I am inspired by our graduate students and their accomplishments in multiple and integral roles as they bridge the gap between undergraduate students and faculty members,” MSU Graduate School Dean Lori Bruce said.

“While being learners as students themselves, they also serve as teachers, mentors and leaders to their fellow students.”

She said graduate students are faculty members’ junior partners in carrying out research and scholarly activities.

“As researchers, they often work in emerging and interdisciplinary fields, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and developing solutions to pressing societal needs. I could not be more proud of each and every graduate student at Mississippi State University as they fulfill their various roles,” Bruce added.

Graduate Student Appreciation Week events at MSU included a kick-off on the Drill Field with MSU President Mark E. Keenum, an Outstanding Graduate Student Hall of Fame Award Reception, and professional photo sessions, among other activities.
