VPN modifications take effect in early July

The use of MSU's Virtual Private Network (VPN) is required by faculty and staff to access many services when off campus. Examples of such services include Administrative Banner and remote desktop access (RDP).  Accessing the VPN requires the use of the Cisco AnyConnect application, which can be found on the university's ITS website.  The Cisco AnyConnect application is available for Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems and is also available via the App Store for Android, iPhone and iPad.

Effective July 2, 2018, VPN groups will be modified with the "Main Campus" group being renamed to "Student" and the "Employee 2FA" group being renamed to "Employee".  In addition, two-factor authentication (2FA) will be required for all VPN groups with the exception of the "Student" group. VPN users will see the following options to login to the VPN when choosing a 2FA required group:

1) Group: Choose the appropriate group
2) Username: enter your NetID
3) Password: enter your NetPassword
4) Duo Password: enter "push" to receive a push to your mobile device (smart phone) OR enter a Duo passcode from your Duo mobile app, or your fob, or from the 2FA website

VPN users who want to take advantage of the extra level of security that two-factor authentication provides can do so prior to the July 2 change by selecting the "Employee-2FA" group to login to the VPN.
