STARKVILLE, Miss.—Two Mississippi natives and two students from Georgia are the new leaders of the Alumni Delegates organization at Mississippi State.

The 40-member group helps the university and MSU Alumni Association maintain strong ties with more than 143,000 living graduates of the land-grant institution that celebrates its 141st anniversary Thursday [Feb. 28].

Alumni Delegate officers for this year include:

—Brittany Corder of Bay St. Louis, president, a senior chemical engineering major;

—Kerry Steen of Marietta, Georgia, vice president of member education, a senior finance and Spanish major concentrating in international business;

—Osvaldo “Ozzie” Ballesteros Garcia of Kosciusko, vice president of public relations, a junior medical technology major; and

—Nathaniel Steven Bell of Atlanta, Georgia, secretary, a senior finance major.

Founded in 1980, Alumni Delegates serve as liaisons between the Alumni Association and MSU students. Delegates often serve as the first points of contact for graduates, friends and other special campus guests and assist with tailgate gatherings, class reunions, graduation ring presentations, and senior celebrations, among other events.

For the past five years, the group has distributed more than $45,000 generated through ticket sales for an annual “free tuition drawing.” Members also have created an endowment to provide an MSU Loyalty Scholarship for entering freshmen or transfer students.

“These are some of the brightest and most dedicated leaders on campus,” said Jordan Ramsey, alumni association associate director and delegate adviser. “I am thankful to know and lead them, and look forward to seeing the impact they can have at our university and with our alumni in the coming year. They are an integral part of our association, and we are grateful for their willingness to lead our Alumni Delegates in 2019.”
