STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State alumnus Saunders Ramsey is the new leader of the MSU Campus Services.

Ramsey has been named executive director of MSU Campus Services, which includes oversight of planning, design, and construction of all major capital projects; maintenance, repair, and custodial services for over 100 university buildings; maintenance of more than 1,500 acres of campus landscape; as well as maintenance, repairs, and construction of MSU’s utilities distribution infrastructure.

Under the restructuring of Campus Services announced by MSU President Mark E. Keenum last fall, Ramsey reports to Associate Vice President of Administration Les Potts. He comes to MSU from Neel-Schaffer, where he led the engineering, planning and construction management firm’s Starkville office.

“We are excited that Saunders has joined the MSU team,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Don Zant. “Saunders’ enthusiasm, leadership and experience will serve both him and MSU well in this very important position. He is well known and respected on campus, in the community and in the construction industry. With the team we now have in place, I look forward to seeing what we can do to bring the living learning community at MSU to even greater heights.”

At Neel-Schaffer, Ramsey worked closely with leaders in government, economic development and education on strategic projects aimed at improving quality of life in area communities. A Starkville native and former captain of the MSU baseball team, Ramsey earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from MSU in 2005. In 2009, he received his master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Memphis.

“This position provided an opportunity to combine unique aspects of my life and career. I have a passion for community development, and I believe Mississippi State is one of the greatest communities in the state of Mississippi—a place where people come to live, work, play and learn. I look forward to partnering with the city of Starkville to shape our area for years to come,” Ramsey said.

“My goal is to work with our incredible staff within Campus Services to establish a vision of constant improvement both personally and professionally, rooted in the belief that we are fortunate to work at this incredible institution and we have been entrusted to ensure that it operates effectively and is consistently improved for generations to come.”
