STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s ACCESS program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities is hosting its annual Preview Day Oct. 2 from 9-11:30 a.m. via Webex.
The free event is open to anyone, especially parents, interested in learning about ACCESS, Mississippi’s first and only inclusive Comprehensive Transition and Post-Secondary Program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, wanting to continue their education after high school.
To be considered for the program, these students must complete an application process that includes interviews with ACCESS staff. Once accepted, ACCESS students are eligible to apply for federal financial aid programs as part of the CTP designation that was granted in 2017 by the U.S. Department of Education.
Along with hearing from ACCESS staff and students, Preview Day participants will have the chance to take a virtual campus tour.

All ACCESS students receive individualized advising and curriculum structure designed to help them gain the self-confidence and independence needed to excel academically, in extracurricular activities and other aspects of campus life.
The program also helps students develop career skills through pursuit of internships, which can lead to increased employment opportunities after college. Students who complete ACCESS receive a certificate of completion at MSU’s commencement ceremony.
