ITS to continue February network upgrade in selected academic buildings

Information Technology Services began an upgrade to MSU's entire network last November and will continue with the upgrade through 2021.

As part of this upgrade, ITS will visit individual academic and administrative buildings on the Starkville campus to install new network equipment.

Careful consideration has been taken on scheduling building upgrade dates to minimize the impact on academic classes and administrative work.
Please be aware of the following on the day a building is scheduled to be upgraded as the building will be without network connectivity all day.

  • Employees should consider teleworking on the day of the upgrade, given there will be no network access.
  • Instructors should be prepared to deliver course material from another location if network access is required.
  • ITS-supported lecterns will not be functional during the day of the scheduled upgrade.
  • Academic buildings with classrooms scheduled to be upgraded during the month of February are as follows:
    • Friday, Feb. 12
      • Agricultural and Biological Engineering
      • Cobb Institute of Archaeology
    • Friday, Feb. 19
      • Briscoe Hall
      • Freeman Hall
      • Stafford Hall
    • Friday, Feb. 26
      • Clay Lyle Entomology Building
      • Moore Hall

If there are extenuating circumstances that would exclude one of the above buildings from being updated on the specified date, please immediately notify the ITS Service Desk at 662-325-0631 or
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this critical network upgrade.
