Applications are due Sept. 7 for Mississippi State's Diversity Writing Circle Program.
This program supports scholarly productivity through regularly scheduled and structured group meetings with a central focus on writing and/or the writing process. In each meeting, participants will discuss and receive support for writing goals and challenges, as well as an accountability structure. Each group will be allowed to determine its own approach to attaining scholarly productivity.
MSU's Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion is seeking leaders and participants for the following writing groups:
Group 1: Associate Professor to Full Professor Group
This group will focus on writing accountability and professional development for Tenured Associate Professors seeking a community of support.
Group 2: Assistant Professor (Writing Accountability Group)
This group will focus on writing accountability and professional development for Tenure-Track Assistant Professors. The group will offer insight into writing challenges and behaviors that hinder productivity, as well as ideas to address these issues.
Group 3: Graduate Student Writing Group
This group will provide support, community, accountability and feedback for scholars working on research writing. Graduate students can work on any project during the writing groups – seminar papers, journal articles, grant proposals, conference presentations, job letters, etc.
Group 4: Interdisciplinary Writing Group
This group is designed for MSU faculty and staff working to increase their scholarly work output or complete any writing projects – writing for grants, conference proposals, etc.
Group 5: Individual Writing Group (Build Your Own)
Participants may choose to create their own group comprised of faculty, staff and/or graduate students. Individual groups should not exceed more than six participants, with 50% of the group’s participants identifying with a racially underrepresented group. Group chairs must submit group goals and members' names for registration.
