MSU’s Bostic displays his work in the Union Art Gallery

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Renowned artist Alex Bostic will be showcasing pieces from his most recent work in an art exhibit at the Union Art Gallery through March 17. The exhibit opens with a reception today [Feb. 24] at 4 p.m., which is free and open to all.

An associate professor in MSU’s College of Architecture, Art and Design, Bostic recently received national recognition for having his original art of sculptor Edmonia Lewis featured on a new U.S. Postal Service stamp as part of the Black Heritage Series. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he is a graduate of the Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and he received his Master of Arts in illustration from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

The exhibit features a collection of Bostic’s work as well as the artwork used to create the new stamp.
