National Cyber Security Awareness Month presentations scheduled

October is designated as National Cyber Security Awareness month. This is intended to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online, while increasing the resiliency of the nation during cyber-threats.

In recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness month, Mississippi State ITS is hosting two presentations on Cyber Security.

—FBI Ransomware Briefing: An FBI special agent will discuss the continuing ransomware cybercrime threat. This is an in-person presentation scheduled for 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday [Oct. 24] at Mitchell Memorial Library’s Grisham Room.

—Campus Security: ITS Senior Security and Compliance Officer Tom Ritter will discuss details about security initiatives underway at MSU. This is an in-person and virtual event scheduled for 1-2 p.m. Thursday [Oct. 27] at Colvard Student Union’s Fowlkes Auditorium. Visit msstate.webex.com/meet/thr1 to attend the meeting virtually.
