STARKVILLE, Miss.—For the first time, Mississippi State University’s graduation ceremonies will be viewable from the convenience of almost anywhere thanks to the new Mississippi State TV app available for most devices.
Downloadable from all major app stores, the MSTV app will provide live event coverage of all Starkville and Meridian graduate and undergraduate commencement exercises to a global audience beginning with ceremonies in December.
MSU Vice President for Strategic Communications Sid Salter said the new app is “the next step toward achieving our transformation goals as outlined in the university’s strategic plan.”
“Our students, faculty and staff want information at their fingertips, portable and available on demand,” Salter said. “Our MSU Television Center has been at the forefront of engaging new technologies into our overall university outreach.”
The new app is MSU’s home for original video programming, live event coverage and more. Available free for mobile devices or smart TVs and accessible online, it offers a convenient way to not only watch live graduation ceremonies, but also arts and public affairs programs and video on demand. MSTV is also the home of MSU Films, which features award-winning documentary productions on a variety of topics important to Mississippians.
“As the only Mississippi university with a full television production facility, we feel it’s important to showcase the great things happening at MSU to the widest audience possible; the release of the MSTV app is part of that strategy,” said David Garraway, MSU Television Center director. “We are excited to offer a variety of programming for nearly every interest, regardless of where our Bulldog family resides.”
In addition to university-produced programs, the app also features live webcams of campus landscapes. Additional features will be added in future releases.
The MSTV app is available for free for iOS, Android, Fire, Roku and AppleTV devices. Search “MSTV” in your device’s app store to download.
