Mississippi State graduate Ginny Walker Shurlds debuts her first children’s book “Mississippi State From A to Z,” with a special signing at Starkville’s Book Mart on Main Street Friday [Sept. 5] 2–5 p.m. She’ll continue signing copies Saturday morning when the store opens at 9:30 a.m.

Mississippi State from A to Z

A native of Meridian and now a resident of Bay St. Louis, Shurlds wrote and illustrated the book, which introduces children to the alphabet through the lens of MSU’s beloved traditions. Featuring a sestain rhyme scheme and pen and watercolor illustrations, the book offers Bulldog fans and their families a playful, educational way to celebrate the Bulldog state of mind.

Shurlds, an MSU College of Arts and Sciences graduate, relied on her background as a veteran elementary, gifted and visual arts educator to create a work that combines artistry with learning. After its Sept. 5 launch, “Mississippi State From A to Z” will be available for purchase online at www.msuabcbook.com and at select retailers throughout the Magnolia State.
