MSU to drape homecoming in Maroon and White

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State will be draped in Maroon and White with this year’s homecoming celebration Oct. 20-25.

The university welcomes the Bulldog family back for a full slate of events during “Draped in Maroon and White: Celebrating MSU’s History Through Fashion,” the homecoming week theme. MSU takes on the University of Texas at Davis Wade Stadium Saturday [Oct. 25], 2:30 or 3:15 p.m.

Homecoming events include:

Monday [Oct. 20]

—9 a.m., Breakfast with Royalty, YMCA Plaza. The homecoming court invites students for free chicken biscuits, donuts and loaded teas while supplies last.

Tuesday [Oct. 21]

—12-3 p.m., Bulldog Bonanza, Drill Field. This Student Association-hosted event features airbrushed hats, yard games, a T-shirt swap where students can trade an old T-shirt for the new homecoming shirt designed by Leila Alvarado.

Wednesday [Oct. 22]

—11 a.m., The Longest Table, Perry Plaza. The Student Association event will offer free lunch, fellowship and community building for students, faculty and staff.

—Noon-4 p.m. Judging for spirit competitions, door decorations, banners, house and lawn displays. Winners will be announced at the homecoming game.

Thursday [Oct. 23]

—11 a.m., Styling State, YMCA Plaza. Create a piece of clothing that is unique to MSU. Students will get a custom homecoming bandana.

—4-6 p.m., Trick or Treat on the Row, Fraternity and Sorority Row. Community members can wear their Halloween costumes and trick or treat at MSU’s fraternity and sorority houses.

—5:30-7:30 p.m., Costume Carnival, MSU Amphitheater. The Student Association welcomes community members to enjoy games and activities.

Friday [Oct. 24]

—11 a.m., Crowns for a Cause, YMCA Plaza. This event offers a chance for students, faculty and staff to learn more about the service initiatives of MSU Homecoming Queen BellaRuth Steward and King Jeffery Johnson Jr.

—5 p.m. True Maroon Trek registration and 5:30 p.m. race start, Hunter Henry Center. Celebrate homecoming with this run/walk sponsored by the Alumni Delegates. Run or walk through campus and complete “traditions” inspired by the MSU student experience. Register online at https://tinyurl.com/5u24wzvk.

—7 p.m., NPHC Homecoming Step Show, Humphrey Coliseum. Chapters of the National Pan-Hellenic Council will host their annual step show. Tickets starting at $20 may be purchased at www.msstate.universitytickets.com.

Saturday [Oct. 25]

—2:30 or 3:15 p.m., Homecoming Football Game, MSU vs. University of Texas, Davis Wade Stadium. For more, visit www.hailstate.com/feature/gameday.

Sunday [Oct. 26]

—9:30-10 a.m., Nondenominational Service, Chapel of Memories. All are invited to attend this service with Rev. Dean Franklin of Starkville.

—10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Pumpkin Painting, Arepas Café in Barnes and Noble. Supplies are provided by Barnes and Noble while they last.
