STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s College of Forest Resources and Forest and Wildlife Research Center are partnering with the Mississippi Forestry Association and Mississippi Loggers Association to host the Mid-South Forestry Equipment Show today [Oct. 3] through Saturday [Oct. 4].
Wes Burger, CFR dean and FWRC director, noted how the nation’s longest running, live in-woods demonstration of forestry equipment seeks to educate the industry and consumers alike.
“This event showcases the latest advancements in forestry equipment, supports sustainable forest management and—through the MSU Extension Service—provides continuing education for loggers and foresters. It is always an honor to welcome guests to the university’s 8,500-acre John W. Starr Memorial Forest,” Burger said.

Show attendance is typically between 3,000 and 4,000 individuals. Among this year’s attendees are over 500 high school students who have the opportunity to learn more about forestry-related careers.
This year’s show boasts 81 exhibitors representing insurance, portable sawmills, truck sales, real estate, hydraulics, forestry equipment and more. Guests can enjoy live and static forestry equipment displays, loader and skidder competitions, a children’s zone and access to a vast network of fellow professionals.
