STARKVILLE, Miss.—For the 11th consecutive year, Mississippi State is being honored as an exemplary employer by the Great Colleges to Work For recognition program.
The latest results published today [Sept. 18] in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education are based on feedback from MSU employees. Out of 171 colleges and universities surveyed, MSU is one of only 76 applicants achieving Great Colleges to Work For status, representing four-year universities with 10,000 or more students. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions.
“The people of Mississippi State University recognize and understand that they are making a truly positive difference in the lives of our students and in the many different communities we serve,” MSU President Mark E. Keenum said. “This profound sense of purpose, as well as our welcoming culture and beautiful campus, add up to a workplace experience that is second to none. I am very proud of our faculty and staff and honored to work with them every day.”
Also, for the 11th consecutive year, MSU was named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll for achieving outstanding recognition in seven of 10 categories, a distinction awarded to only 42 colleges each year. This year, the university received top scores in professional development; mission and pride; supervisor and department chair effectiveness; confidence in senior leadership; faculty and staff well-being; shared governance; and faculty experience.
The Great Colleges to Work For program is one of the largest and most respected workplace recognition programs in the country. Now in its 18th year, it recognizes colleges that receive top marks from employees for workplace practices and policies.
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment administered by ModernThink, a strategic human capital consulting firm. The process combines a comprehensive review of workplace policies and employment data with direct, survey responses from faculty, administrators and professional support staff.
