For students with limited access to internet services

If you are in Starkville –

The Mitchell Memorial Library is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. Students may access the Computer Commons with their valid MSU ID card. Access to the library is limited to faculty, staff, and students only. All patrons will be expected to comply with social distancing requirements and library staff instructions regarding use of services.

If you are in Mississippi –

Students who live in Mississippi may access internet services at their local county extension offices during normal business hours (with the exception of the Pearl River and Pike County extension offices which are currently closed). Our Extension Offices broadcast Eduroam, the same wireless network that is used on campus.  Your device will be able to connect to the Extension wireless network just as if you were on campus. Students must bring their own laptops as the offices do not have computers available for use. This service will be available beginning Monday, March 23. Guidelines for the number of people who can be in a location along with social distancing standards will be expected. Locations for these offices can be found at http://extension.msstate.edu/county-offices

For all students –

Depending on your smartphone data plan, your smartphone can be used as a hot spot for internet access by turning on the Personal Hot Spot on your phone.

A limited number of CSPIRE wifi hotspots will be available for check out at the Mitchell Memorial Library. We will communicate when those become available.

Charter is offering free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.

COMCAST/Xfinity is also offering services through its “Internet Essentials” program. Link to those services: https://www.internetessentials.com/?utm_source=highspeedinternet.com&ut…

Students with financial need who must purchase internet access from a local provider can ask for assistance from our Student Relief Fund at dos@msstate.edu. Please attach any documentation you can to your request including the estimate from the internet provider.
