Search committee in place for MSU College of Forest Resources dean

Mississippi State University Vice President for the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine Keith Coble and Provost and Executive Vice President David Shaw on May 17 announced members of the search committee for the university’s next dean of the College of Forest Resources.

The CFR dean also will serve as director of the university’s Forest and Wildlife Research Center.

A 16-member search committee, now in place and chaired by Dr. Kent Hoblet, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, will hold its initial meeting soon to begin the search process.

In addition to Hoblet, university and industry committee members are:

—Makayla Brister, master’s student, Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture

—Matt Edwards, director of operations, Southern Timberlands, Weyerhaeuser Corp.

—Frederico Franca, assistant research professor, FWRC/Department of Sustainable Bioproducts

—Steve Grado, professor, FWRC/Department of Forestry

—Robert Grala, professor, FWRC/Department of Forestry

—David Hall, president, Mississippi Forestry Association

—Britton Hatcher, regional manager, Mississippi Farm Bureau

—Mary Kelly, business manager I, FWRC/Department of Forestry

—Eric McConnell, assistant professor, FWRC/Department of Forestry

—Dana Morin, assistant professor, FWRC/Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture

—Ed Penny, southern region director of public policy, Ducks Unlimited

—Dan Seale, professor, FWRC/Department of Sustainable Bioproducts
