MSU Collegiate Recovery Community launching Recovery Ally Program, trainings this fall

To expand recovery awareness and offer support to any individual on Mississippi State's campus, the university's Collegiate Recovery Community is launching two Recovery Ally initiatives this fall.

The Recovery Ally Program is an MSU student organization designed to provide fellow student allies with an avenue to connect with the Collegiate Recovery Community and help make Mississippi State University a more recovery-friendly campus.

Through outreach, events, fellowship and awareness efforts, the CRC is working to create a healthier campus regarding substance misuse and encouraging students to develop lifelong friendships along the way.

Students interested in learning more about joining the Recovery Ally Program are encouraged to attend an interest meeting, Aug. 31, 6 p.m., CRC House (84 Morgan Ave., Mississippi State, MS, 39762).

The CRC is hosting four 90-minute Recovery Ally Trainings for faculty, staff and students who are interested in becoming a Recovery Ally. The Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 4 and Dec. 14 trainings will be hosted at the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America’s Veterans at Nusz Hall. No dues or fees are required for participation.

To help further garner allyship and raise awareness on campus, the CRC is encouraging MSU teaching faculty to consider including the following in their syllabi/on Canvas: The Collegiate Recovery Community provides the all-inclusive college experience, helping students in recovery achieve success and excellence academically, professionally and spiritually. If you think you might have a problem with substance misuse or would like to learn more about addiction and recovery support on campus, please visit the CRC's website at recovery.msstate.edu or call (662) 325-3192.
