Virtual seminar takes place this week, part of the ORED Seminar Series

The Office of Research and Economic Development would like to invite you to attend the following virtual seminar as part of the Fall 2021 ORED Seminar Series:

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT WITH ERDCWERX: OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACADEMIA

Thursday, September 23, 2021

10 - 11:30 a.m.

ERDCWERX is a regional innovation hub which supports the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) by helping to identify new partnerships for innovation and commercialization and to promote pathways for project success. Opportunities exist within a network of WERX affiliates to support defense related research priorities by driving technologies faster and more efficiently to meet warfighter needs, identify new solution providers and opportunities for collaboration, to facilitate technology transfer and create new business environments. ERDCWERX provides a number of tools and resources, among them the ability to leverage capacities of researchers, entrepreneurs, and businesses to advance the development, assessment, efficacy, and deployment of new technologies to solve complex problems.

As we anticipate more funding opportunities through the ERDC, including more funding for civil works R&D, it is important to know more about how these two entities are connected and the ways for involvement for our faculty and researchers. Mr. Paul Sumrall and Dr. Julie Jordan will host a fireside chat style discussion on the mission and goals of ERDCWERX and the opportunities for MSU. This includes target interest areas and initiatives, mechanisms for supporting research and development, and the processes through which researchers may engage with the group to identify capacities and build partnerships.

There will be time at the end of the session for questions, but if you have questions that you would like to send to us in advance to make sure that Dr. Jordan and Mr. Sumrall address during the discussion, then please email them to Stephanie Hyche, stephanie@ord.msstate.edu.
