Prescott previously served Mississippi State as vice president for external affairs from March 1999 through January 2007. His career then led him to Baylor University, where he served as vice president for four years before joining the New Mexico State University Foundation, where he served as president. His next opportunity was at the internationally known fundraising and consulting firm BWF as a senior vice president, serving almost 100 clients, including colleges and universities, conservation organizations and others.

In returning to Starkville, he joins a team that has set fundraising records in four of the last five years and recently grew its overall endowment beyond the $1 billion mark.

“Dennis is bringing tremendous value to our team,” said MSU Vice President for Development and Alumni John P. Rush, who also is president and CEO of the MSU Foundation. “The experience he has accumulated over the years, with us and then through service to other institutions, is just invaluable. Returning here, he brings his knowledge of the craft and will pair it well with the potential our university has to offer.”

“I am absolutely thrilled to return to Mississippi State University,” Prescott said. “My previous years here were among the most rewarding of my career, and I’m honored to be a part of this high-performing team of professionals again.”
