MSU staff members graduate from national College Business Management Institute

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Three Mississippi State College of Education staff members are recent graduates of the College Business Management Institute, a national professional development program that equips business officers and administrators with the knowledge and skills to excel in higher education business administration.
The graduates include business managers Elizabeth Carrithers, Department of Teacher Education and Leadership; Stacy Davis, Department of Technology, Leadership and Design; and Theresa Hall-Brown, Department of Counseling, Higher Education Leadership, Educational Psychology and Foundations. They completed the program during the institute’s annual summer meeting in Lexington, Kentucky.
Co-sponsored by the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers and the University of Kentucky, CBMI delivers a rigorous course of study in financial and business management for administrators representing higher education institutions across the country.
“We’re very proud of Elizabeth, Stacy and Theresa,” MSU College of Education Dean Teresa Jayroe said. “Their commitment to professional growth strengthens the College of Education and the important work we do every day. The knowledge and experience they gained through this program will benefit their departments, our faculty and staff, and ultimately the students we serve.”
This year, more than 80 courses ranging from entry-level to advanced were taught by distinguished faculty, giving participants an overview of relevant procedures and current issues.
Participants engage in the weeklong summer course of study for three years to complete the program and may earn up to 28 hours of continuing professional credits every year. Graduates are honored during a ceremony and receive a certificate of completion.
MSU’s College of Education is home to five academic departments, a division of education, one research unit and numerous service units.
