STARKVILLE, Miss.—Veterans, active-duty service members, reservists and their families are invited to connect with essential resources, benefits and support services during Mississippi State University’s Veterans Resource Fair, April 11 in Bost Extension Center, 190 Bost Drive.

From 9 a.m.-2 p.m., fair visitors can meet with representatives of veteran-friendly organizations and get expert advice on Veterans Affairs benefits, financial aid and career opportunities. Those who attend also can network with fellow service members and military families, while discovering support programs during the event sponsored by MSU’s G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Center for America’s Veterans.

“Our center’s mission is to ensure that the transition out of uniform doesn’t mean you’ve finished your service, it just means your mission has changed,” said Andrew Rendon, center director. “We’re dedicated to our military-connected students and local veteran community, and this event bridges any gaps to ensure every veteran has the right gear for their next chapter.”

Approximately 40 vendors and experts will be on hand to discuss a variety of topics, from education and employment assistance to healthcare and community programs, while also offering free services. Confirmed vendors include the American Red Cross of Mississippi and Alabama, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Work for Warriors Mississippi, Region XII Community and Mental Health, WIN Job Center and many others.

For more information, contact the center’s Assistant Director Justin Brown at 662-325-6720 or Administrative Assistant Susan Shurden at 662-325-8006.

MSU has been long recognized as one of the nation’s most veteran-friendly universities and currently holds a Top 5 ranking through GI Jobs, also known as VIQTORY. Including students and dependents, the veteran community at MSU now includes more than 3,000. For more information on the university’s Center for America’s Veterans, visit www.veterans.msstate.edu.
