MSU alumnus Christine Powell promoted to director of NASA’s Stennis Space Center

STARKVILLE, Miss.—A Mississippi State alumna is now leading NASA’s Stennis Space Center. Biloxi native Christine Powell has served at the Gulf Coast center and other NASA locations since 1995 after first beginning as an intern in 1991. She was promoted from deputy director to the director position this June.

Powell is a 1995 MSU electrical engineering graduate. As director, she is responsible for implementing NASA’s mission in rocket propulsion testing and developing and maintaining NASA’s world-class rocket propulsion test facilities.

The Stennis Space Center also is home to more than 50 federal, state, academic and private organizations and numerous technology-based companies. MSU has had a longtime Stennis Center presence through its Science and Technology Center.
